JiangZhou stands in the southwest of shanxi. It neighbors to the north ofYunChen and Joins Fen River with Huang River. In Qin dynasty(1724)JiangZhou was called ZhiLi State which is under the direct control of statecouncil. And then it was renamed as XinJiang county in Republic of China(1912).JiangZhou’s wooden new year picture characters in the following towaspects: firstly it enjoys long history and elaborated development. Secondly thenew year picture is richful in its contents and various in types. Thirdly its printways varies such as single colored, double colored and so on. It includes allkinds of art displays based on the different ways of making new year pictures.Fourthly the wooden new year picture is meticulous in carving and exquisite indesign. And it excels in handwriting. It valued in carving version.New year picture and traditional opera are very popular folk arts amongpeople. From its origin to flourishing, the two arts develops very wellrespectively according to their own characters. The commonness between themis that the two arts are both chic in folk.
