Marx’s Theory Of Needs And Its Contemporary Value

Need category is an important category of Marxist theoretical system, it plays an important role in Marx’s theory of Historical Materialism. In recent years, with the deep research in human problem, Marx’s theory of needs causes the attention of scholars gradually in China. Discussing and researching Marx’s needs theory, from the theoretical level, will help us to study and understand Marx’s humanism thoughts and the whole Marxist theory. From the practical level, in-depth study of Marx’s theory of needs is the fundamental request of promoting human development and social progress. Combining the current situation of our country, the deep research in the theory of human needs showing great contemporary value in maintaining human rights and building a harmonious socialist society.Based on Marxist classic texts, adhering to the basic method of dialectical materialism and historical analysis, following the own developing track of Marx’s theory, the article combs the source and the formation process of Marx’s needs theory, also summarizes the contents of Marx’s needs theory. Besides, it combines with reality, discussing and analyzing the Marx’s needs theory to guide the construction of socialism in current China to show great value.Full-text consists of the introduction and three parts. The introduction briefly introduces the selected topic basis and significance, domestic and foreign research present condition and the research approach and innovation of the article. The first part of the thesis explores the origin and forming process of Marx’s needs theory and analyzes the influence of needs theory on Marx, since thinkers before Marx, especially Hegel and Feuerbach’s views about the needs. At the same time, expounding the viewing angle and process of formation of Marx’s needs theory. The second part of the thesis mainly discusses the basic contents of Marx’s needs theory, including the interpretation of Marx’s concept of "needs", summarization of demands’ characteristics, the induction of contents and levels of needs and the demonstration of needs’social and historical impacts, highlighting the effects of needs for human beings and the whole social development. The third part of the thesis primarily focus on the current China’s socialist construction practice, contacting Marx’s needs theory with practice, considering China’s national conditions, this article discusses the value of Marx’s needs theory in contemporary China. From three different angles,"people-oriented" scientific outlook on development, the harmony between man and nature and the construction of socialist culture, the thesis elaborates the active effects of Marx’s theory of needs of building socialist harmonious society, also demonstrates its practical significance for understanding or maintaining human rights and setting up scientific outlook on life.
