On Absurdity In Liu Zhenyun’s Novels

Liu Zhenyun has caused widespread concern in academic circles since he entered the literary w orld. As part of his novels is adapted for films and television works and some works win the award, t he influence of Liu Zhenyun expand further. Liu Zhenyun was good at observing the social panoram a from the people living at the bottom of society, and using different styles of language to write his u nderstanding about life. To find essence of life from different historical and spiritual aspects, paying close attention to the dilemma of survival of the ordinary people is the most prominent feature of his works. Liu Zhenyun’s novels present the social style, pay attention to the history and people’s psychology.At the same time; they also have the characteristics of strong absurdity. Therefore, analysis on Liu Zhenyun’s novels from the angle of the absurd is very necessary. The paper mainly analyzes and discusses the absurdity of Liu Zhenyun’s novels from the following three aspects:The first chapter presents the existence of absurdity in Liu Zhenyun’s novels. His novels have a wide range of subjects; show the existence of absurdity in the daily life, in the historical deduction and in the pursuit of power. All of these tell people that the impermanence of the fate and the existence of others often make people fall into the absurd situation in daily life, absurdity is not only produced in the historical circle and "joking" of the history but also exposed in the pursuit of power. The second chapter mainly discusses peoples’ choices in the absurd situation. In Liu Zhenyun’s novels, the absurdity exists everywhere and people will make different choices in facing of the absurdity. Some people escape absurdity pessimistically and negatively in the process of destruction or leaving home after waking up from the absurdity. The others face absurdity and revolt it actively. The third chapter focuses on the analysis on the various ways about showing absurdity in Liu Zhenyun’s novels. On one hand, irony and banter make the language of Liu Zhenyun’s novels humorous. On the other hand, they present the absurd reality thoroughly.
