Modeling language, color language, material language, they are the basic elements in painting language. Material language services for creative performance two of them. Currently, tempera materials and techniques gradually get to known Chinese art. Divided into water-based and oil-based media properties, especially water-based tempera, due to the special nature of the material, this kind of painting has been used by many painters. Classic works not only reflect distinctive art style, but also mastery of the material. Only perseverance to painting, can improve the personal artistic style, and ensure that the quality of a work of art also.On the basis of conceptual problems, according to the water-based tempera material characteristics specific practical analysis of domestic and foreign artists, and then based on the practical experience case, further explore the value orientation of the water-based tempera. The specific content of the paper are as follows:Chapter one briefly describes the sources and background of this research, the study of meaning and purpose, research status and dynamic and innovative point.Chapter two briefly introduce to the papers that will be involved in related concepts and historical background, and a clear definition of water-based tempera.The Chapter three from the base of the media characteristics, painting pigment characteristics, in particular the specific production process discussed in detail.Chapter four combinations of artists from painting material supports applications, media agent application, texture application and techniques applied in four areas case analysis and summary.Chapter five from three aspects discussed in the next painting to achieve the ideal of creation and how the material language.Conclusion as a briefly review and summarize the content of this paper and prospective study.
