Mei Wending is a great master at Astronomy and Mathematics in the Qing Dynasty. People always speak highly of his way of thinking, scholarship and academic impacting. Mei took the mostly time to travel to discuss learning with the Emperor, government officials and civilian scholars, even adherents of the Ming Dynasty. Because of his personal fascination and academic efforts, he was a legend in that era.The first chapter examines the reaction of all kinds of monographs, research papers about Mei Wending. The second chapter compares Mei Wending with Wang Xichan, who enjoys equal popularity with Mei. They differed in crowd, printing of works, family learning heritage, etc. The third chapter discusses why the Emperor Kangxi had different attitudes in calendar calculation between Chinese and Western chouren, and how he didn’t trust the missionaries. Bing based on the previous discussions, the last chapter analyzes Mei’s influence on society.
