The Comparat Ive Study Between "Mimi"and "Qiangdi"

Mimi, is also known as the "Bibi" or "Miguan" which is very popular in Hui, Dongxiang, Baoan,Sala, Tu and Tibet nationality area in China. Qiangdi, the one belongs to single metallic reed and breath sound ancient instrument kind within2,000years China’s history, can be found in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous area in Sichuan province. This paper focus on deep compartive research on our China ancient and traditional musical instrument between Mimi and Qiangdi, using comparative methods based on the scope of culture and anthropology. The purpose is to enhance peoples’understanding on these two instruments on their both profile and difference, especially recognize their importance on China’s traditional instrument development in minority nationality aspects that leaves unique artistic style and special characteristic.Mimi and Qiangdi have both similarity and difference. In order to revert their original ancient profile and relevance, the whole study costs lots of time by field research on two instruments’history, manufacture craft, performance skill, musical culture, inheritance people, current development, timbre and living area, generalize and summarize those similarity and difference. At the end of this paper, the author also gives her suggestion on how to circulate and protect these two instruments.
