To describe nature by poetry is one of the common ground in both Chinese and foreign literature in all ages. But about the mode of describing nature, it is totally different for the differences of era and region. In the ideological and cultural backgroud of ancient China, the nature depicted in the landscape poetry becomes an utopia for the Chinese poets to escape from the reality. Chinese modern literature learns more from foreign literature instead of following tradition. The realization of self is the symbol to distinguish the classic literature and the modern literature in China. However, it is more often regarded as a method of saving the national crisis. In the course of establishing the system of Chinese new poetry by learning foreign literature, the poets continuously searched, and explored, but they still neglected the issue of probing oneself when they try to describe nature in their poetry, still moving in lockstep. In the1940s, The Collection of Sonnets written by Feng zhi, fills the Chinese modern literature lacks of philosophical exploration of the universe and life. The nature in Feng Zhi’s works expresses his thought of existence of human destiny and life or death. And it connects the new poetry and western poetry.The first chapter of this essay is focus on the influence of classical Chinese literature to The Collection of Sonnets. The nature plays an important role in the lyric poem and Tu Fu landscape poem. Tu Fu, the famous poet in Tang Dynasty, has his own characteristic in the Collection of Sonnets’ landscape. In the Collection of Sonnets, Feng Zhi inherited all the above points. He also creatively combined the emotion, the scenic and the philosophy together.The second chapter focuses on Feng Zhi’s selective acceptance on German culture and Feng Zhi’s external impact on the art of poetry. Goethe and Rilke not only impact embodies in poetry creation concept, more important is to inspire Feng Zhi understanding of nature and the life philosophy in the poems to explore. Research Feng Zhi in exploration is different from contemporary poets of new poetry, and then think about Feng Zhi on relationship of nature and life, life and self.The third chapter mainly analyzes The Collection of Sonnets prompt Chinese and western cultural fusion. Through the analysis of the above two chapters, found that so far Feng Zhi in natural writing full of modernity thought of human destiny, life and death.To study The Collection of Sonnets from the aspect of comparative literature is very meaningful. This paper pays great attention on the background of parnassus at that time.The analysis of Feng Zhi’poetry shows that the development of new poetry is a witness to the history of blending of Chinese and western culture. The inheritance of the Chinese ancient literature and the nutrients of foreign literature essence work together to promote the new poetry. The Collection of Sonnets can be a classic case that shows the significance of new poetry in the field of traditional Chinese poetics and also the Modernistic poetry movements around the world.
