The Research On Symbolic Sculptures In The University Campus Of Changsha

With the development of university campus culture, the school will pay much more attention to the planning and design of campus environment. The sculpture itself has a strong sense of space. And it brings out a crucial point in the campus environmental art as a "sketch" in green. In this paper, the author focuses on the analysis of part of the university campus environmental sculpture in Changsha city, which elaborated from its theme, materials, shape, position, size and so on.First, this paper defines a preliminary concept of university campus symbolic sculpture. Then it relies on the research of some university campus symbolic sculpture at home and abroad, detailing three directions which consist of the present situation of university campus sculpture in Changsha, the category of university campus symbolic sculpture, and the overall characteristics of university campus symbolic sculpture to prove the reliability of the university campus symbolic sculpture.Second, the focus of the paper is elaborating symbolic sculpture, and analyzing the importance of university campus symbolic sculpture in decorating campus environment, heightening the campus learning atmosphere, inheriting campus history and culture and symbolizing the spirit of the campus. Summarizing its overall characteristics according to the present situation of the majority of university campus sculpture in Changsha City.Then describing its existing categories to define the contents of university campus sculpture whose key concept is design a campus sculpture which not only fit for an university’s educational place but also have a strong representative meaning in the university campus environment. It must have the following content that besides combining the connotation of overall historical culture, mental outlook, subject characteristics, and future development trends of the campus as a whole, the sculpture can also compromise the merits of campus sculpture’s monumental, decorative, thematic, functional concept.Finally, I study the artistic language and overall appearance of modern university campus symbolic sculpture from the point of theory. And through the way from making a point to proving it by examples and drawing conclusions, I comprehensively summed up the future development of campus symbolic sculpture. And give a new position to the symbolic sculpture, or give some new forward-looking advices for the development of university campus symbolic sculpture in Changsha City. Then summarizing the design principles and methods of a university campus symbolic sculpture by explaining the reason of its inevitable trend.Symbolic sculpture will play a positive role in building a contemporary university campus cultural environment.
