Liu Yazi was a famous patriotic poet and was concerned about the fate of the country, the livelihood of the people. Liu Yazi was also a revolutionary poet, and he engaged in revolutionary activities, felt the revolution in the forefront of the struggle. He devoted himself to the organization and operation of literature groups. Liu Yazi’s character was sincere, generous and heroic and his sorrow is greater than the ordinary people. He liked drinking, writing poems, and making friends with anybody, and left a large number of poems. Rich life experiences and heroic personality interweaving together in Liu Yazi’s poems form a unique style.This paper mainly studies the poems during the period after XinHai Revolution to Anti-Japanese War. Through the combination of poems and historical events, we study the historic significance, rich emotion, patriotism, gloomy thoughts, and heroic temperament contained in the poems of Liu Yazi. This paper is divided into several parts to study Liu Yazi’s poetry:Part1:The introduction mainly explains the value of academic and research topic, research status of predecessors, explains the research aim, research methods and the operation way.Part2:The first chapter mainly introduces Liu Yazi’s poems during the reign of Yuan Shikai. After Xin Hai Revolution, Yuan Shikai made conspiracies become the dictator, even he wanted to restore the emperor’s rule in China. Facing such a poor situation, Liu Yazi wrote poems to expose Yuan Shikai’s despicable acts, react the society and history, advocate revolution against Yuan Shikai and express his indignation. The poems mourning deceased friends express deep depression.Part3:The second chapter mainly explores Liu Yazi’s three books of poetry, containing JiuShe Poetry, MILou Poetry and LeGuo Poetry. These poetry were from Liu Yazi’s activities in JiuShe agency, MiLou club and LeGuo club. Three books of poetry collected poems about more than ten years. And these poems record the history of the Northern Warlords in China and described his own experiences and feelings. This chapter will show the delicate and psychological changes, spirit and style of Liu Yazi.Part4:The third chapter mainly introduces Liu Yazi’s poems during Poems during1924to1936. In this period Liu Yazi’s poems are still uphold the principle of "poems recording the history". Lyric poems describe current events, record historical facts and give expression to the injustices. Poems about inscribing and presenting for friends are sincere and enthusiastic. Poems about travel record journey and express emotions about national affairs..Poems about national calamity express deep and patriotic emotions.Part5:The forth chapter mainly discusses the cognition value of Liu Yazi’s poems. This paper analyzes the origin and the writing style of Liu Yazi poems. His poems inherit Qu Yuan’s style, learn Du Fu and Gong Zizhen, imitate poets in the late Ming Dynasty, and then form his own poetry features. And we will interpret literary characteristics and epic quality of Liu’s poems.Part6:The conclusion mainly introduces the result of research, problems and deficiencies during studying of Liu Yazi’s poems.
