Research On The Artistic Characteristics And Playing Skills Of Chopin Etudes

Chopin was one of the most representative and controversial musicians in the19thcentury which is considered as a romantic musical time. His compositions play animportant role in piano music both at that time and present. Etude, at first, was a kindof skilled music specially written by teachers in order to make their students to betterunderstand one or more play skills. It is only an unitary type of music. However, theetudes written by Chopin are unique and make great contribution to the musiccomposition in19thcentury. Different with other etudes, Chopin’s etudes could makepeople moved by heart. The audiences could not only enjoy the great playing skillsfrom these etudes, but also touch the feelings that Chopin put into the etudes. This isdue to the fact that every etude stands for a cognition Chopin felt about the world. Inthe other words, Chopin’s etudes are the combination of his performance skill andfeeling from heart, which could easily make the audience moved by heart.As a result, this paper chooses Chopin and his etudes from hundreds ofmusicians and compositions as the research object. Focusing on the artisticcharacteristics and playing skills of Chopin etudes, this paper firstly explored theaesthetic value of Chopin etudes by introducing the life history and compositionbackground of Chopin and discussing the historical role of Chopin etudes. Then theartistic characteristics of Chopin etudes were identified by analyzing compositionskills and emotion expression methods. Besides, the playing skills and teachingmethods of Chopin etudes are also discussed in this paper. During the research,literature review, comparison analysis and empirical analysis were introduced in thepaper.Besides the section of introduction and conclusion, there are three other sectionsin this paper. The first section is about the introduction of Chopin etudes from the total perspective. There are also three parts in the first section. The first part is aboutthe composition time and background of Chopin etudes. The second part is about thehistorical value of Chopin etudes and research necessities. And aesthetic value ofChopin etudes is in the third part. Following the first section, artistic characteristics ofChopin etudes are discussed. This section is mainly focusing on two characteristics:(1) combination of composition skill and emotion expression;(2) the normative butvarious composition skills. The third section is about the playing skills and teachingmethods of Chopin etudes. The conclusion is in the last section, which systematicallyconcluded the main views of this paper.
