| Verb’s overlapping, as an important language phenomenon in modern Chinese, isone of the difficulties in the TCFL.This thesis is aimed to analyze the factorsrestricting overlapping of the monosyllabic verbs from three perspectives. Throughcomparative analysis, the author attempts to find out whether the learners havelearned all the constraints restricting the verb’s overlapping. The appropriate teachingstrategies are proposed to help the learners to use those verbs in a proper way.There are four parts in the main body. In part one, reviewing all the researchwork have done related to this subject, the author puts forward the problems whichwill be discussed and explored and the research methods which will be employed inthe thesis.In part two, the author analyzes all factors restricting its use as a predicate fromthe perspectives of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, to illustrate the other elements(such as adverbial, complement, object) of the sentence may have on the using of theoverlapping verbs. By analyzing all the monosyllabic verbs in Chinese Course, theauthor summarizes the characteristics of the monosyllabic verbs which can be used asoverlapping verbs and comes to the conclusion that the sentence types, stylistic colorare also factors restricting the use of the verb’s overlapping.In part three, the author conducts a survey through the form of a questionnaire toexamine whether students have mastered factors restricting the verb’s overlapping.Based on the quantitative analysis of the data, through comparative analysis and erroranalysis method the author tries to find out the all the contributing factors of themistakes the learners may make in using the verb’s overlapping.Part four deals with a survey conducted to show the inadequacies of the textbooksused in second language teaching, such as Chinese Course, Experiencing Chinese. Inthe end, the author gives appropriate suggestions to the compilers of the textbooks,the teachers and the learners. |
