A Translation Project Report Of Basic Concepts And Models For Interpreter And Translator Training (Chapter Four)

The research material of this project is taken from the monograph of Dr. DanielGile--Basic Concepts and Models in Translator and Interpreter Training (revisededition), Chapter Four. In this chapter, there are seven parts which include theexplanations of basic definitions, analyses of examples and statements of therequirements for translators and interpreters. For all the learners, this would beextremely precious study materials and useful instructions in translation andinterpretations practices.This report discusses, under the guidance of German functionalist translationtheorist Hans Vermeer’s “Skopos Theory”, the possibility in the application ofdomestication translation during the translation process. Trying to precisely conveythe purpose of the original text, the author investigates the target informationreceivers and chooses the suitable expression and language style before she sets aboutto translate the text. Through the whole process, the author uses domestication as themain translation approach, with techniques of amplification, hysteron-proteron andconversion, etc. The author truthfully hopes that this project can give a good referencefor the similar translation projects.
