Foucault’s Caring Of The Self And Aesthetic Significance

This paper focus on critical study of caring of the self which is the essence of Foucault’saesthetic ideology about existence in details, meanwhile experiencing aesthetic significanceof it. In the first chapter, the thesis introduces the influence Foucault made on ideologicalrealms and his writings. This chapter also summarized the studies of the aesthetics ofexistence at home and abroad. Based on these studies, the paper points out the shortcomingsof studies of the aesthetics of existence and show the significance of the paper. The secondchapters focus on the definition of caring of the self. This part begins with the searching forthe source of theory of caring of the self form the ancient Rome era and then finds out theconnection between caring of the self and self-recognizing. At the end of this part, the paperrefines the historical materials with the knowledge of Archaeology and genealogy to find outthe essence of the aesthetics of existence, and then explain what is caring of the self fromdifferent aspects. The third chapter is about caring of the self based on the body. Foucaultsublated the Volker Pinlnice and Melo Ponti’s concept of the body. The study of body withquestion on body still be exist and attracts us. Ideologist has published their own conceptions.The ideology of caring of the self is the practice of self-technology. The fourth chapter isabout the composition of the signification of caring of the self. The caring of the self is theessence of Foucault’s aesthetic ideology about existence. The significance is self beingcompatible with others, and finally brings out the freedom of self after the process of facingself. The ideology of caring of the self help us to turn people’s own life to be artwork andextinguish the alienation and separation. The main purpose of this paper is intention to makesome new ponderation from the aspect of body within the aesthetic field of caring of the self.
