Fidld Investigation And Research On’Monkeys Play Stich’ Fack Dance In Qinhuangdao Of Hebei Province

Monkey-Playing-Stick is a traditional folk activity in Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County of Hebei Province. However, now it is on the edge of vanishing. Its original property is being gradually replaced by commercial values. Dynamic factors which will promote the continuity of its vitality will be extracted among the living cultures, the methodology of Dancing Cultural Anthropology will be adopted, and academic interpretation will be employed, so as to define the cultural property of Monkey-Playing-Stick and to explore its multi-level cultural connotation. It is hoped that an overall description of the ecological environment, social environment and historical and cultural background will be given out from the research performed by an insider. Meanwhile, the Dancing-Ecology Methodology is employed to explore the core cognitive subject-Monkey-Playing-Stick to summarize the central phenomenon residing in dancing activities and to study the language systems of the folk dances. Furthermore, some questions are exposed about the inheritance and protection of Monkey-Playing-Stick, such as the gap of social development, the functional deficiency of traditional costumes, and the weak self-awareness of inheritance and protection.
