The Emotions Drive A New Performance

This research is focused on Monteverdi’s opera Orfeo. Trying to comprehensively explore the composer’s profound methods on musical techniques of expression, the artistic content and aesthetic concepts by analyzing the opera’s noumenon and the artistic features. Since its inception in1607, Orfeo has been known as the first real opera in history, opened up a new situation to this genre by the exquisite expression of music and the integrated dramatic structure. The text will first discuss the musical standpoints and works in early Baroque by proceeding with historical environment, then investigate the creative origin of Orfeo and its performance by extending to Monteverdi’s composing style. At the same time, the theme can also represent the characteristics of dramatic drawn in this period. Based on it, I will analyze the music pieces and the development of the story, then subdivide to the unique expression of every musical component, finally talk about how Orfeo was accomplished by music. This research will not only display Orfeo s musical features and the artistic value, but also try to fill the gaps in the domestic research field on this topic. In the course of collecting and studying the historical data, I also combine the latest research achievements in foreign academia in order to investigate the work’s artistic characteristics in a deeper angle. All these will change the situation which people used to cognize Orfeo superficially, and make people comprehend its artistic connotation in depth.
