Kafka’s fiction,with many ways to interpretate and the sharpness to consider soul,haswon numbers of readers to analyse.He revals the spiritual predicament of human.With thetenacity,he tries hard to find the fragment in the river of truth. This thesis tries to explodethe connotation in Kafka’s works with the understanding and tapping of the situationcontext which mainly includes the following aspects:The introduction generalized the research situation and promising tendency of Kafka,meanwhile, it also demonstrates the thinking mode predicament, that is how to get awaywith some unnecessary external study only to dig those unknowable insight which touchesthe readers? The multivalent nature of Kafka’s prose allows for variety of interpretationand what was that? Then this thesis brings forward a typical method---situational analysis.The first chapter analyses the openness and dilemma in the interpretation of Kafka’sfiction, it demonstrates the attempt to avoid those rigid theories,and analyses essence ofKafka’s paradox.Kafka’s paradox not only means the paradox in words and thingking、theindefinite status and relationship between different people、the various choices,but alsomeans an unavoidable mode of thinking which he must choose,and lead to integralemptiness.It points out how Kafka assimilate Kierkegaard’s thought in critical mind.The second chapter mainly analyses the fundamental structure of his short stories. Thenecessity of the situational analysis was brought forward through the interweaving ofsubtle technique, the vivid imagination and the superb instinct in the comprehending of artwhich produce the entangled and nicely-crafted structure which attracted readersworldwide.The third chapter analyses the situational context in Kafka’s short stories. After thediscourse of the connotation and feasibility of the phrase “situation”, this thesis elaboratedupon the situational context in Kafka’s short stories: the primeval chaos, endless silence,the painful Schizoid, the passage of time, the temptation of food as well as the mysteriousinvasion, so as to explode the mental perspective with the universal understanding in thecomprehending of Kafka’s works.Finally, the thesis concluded the reason why Kafka as well as his works, both inContemporary critics and academics, were regarded as one of the best writers and bestworks of the20th century.
