| The popular fiction which is a part of the modern literature in northeast of Chinais always ignored by many scholars because of the special history of northeasternChina in the Second World War. During the-14-year occupation, nationalism andpatriotism became the focus of literature attention. The popular fiction which seemsunaffected by those ideas was absolutely snubbed. However, the existence andmeaning of it is undoubted. Furthermore, a brief flourish was discovered through thesorting out the literature during occupation period.During the later period of occupation, there was a brief flourish for the popularfiction. Since1940, the Puppet Regime ruled systemically more than before, includingstrengthening the supervision of literature works. The new type of literature whichwas characterized by resistance lost its way to survive. The spirit of resistance amongthe people of northeastern China was vitiated by pleasure seeking. In addition, thePuppet Regime was also a great support to the popular fiction. In such a case, thepopular fiction in the northeast of China was facing a good opportunity to make greatprogress.During that period of time, a new popular synthesizing fashion of magazine,Qinlin was established, and even the old fashion magazine New Manchuria began itspopularization. Not only had the number of popular fiction increased, but also withhigh quality. On the authors, many local authors such as Liu yunruo and Di xiaodicontribute their shares to the popular fiction in the northeast of China.There was its own characteristic for the popular fiction during later occupationperiod in northeastern China although it was a drop in the ocean for the whole modernpopular literature of China. The popular fiction authors used their own voice tocontinue the resistance. |
