In the July,2007, the Ministry of Education officially published theCollege English Curriculum Requirements, which pointed out a new Englishteaching and learning model—“the computer-and classroom-based Englishteaching and learning model”. This new model emphasizes on students’individualized and autonomous learning, which creates conditions to developthe students’ individualized study method and the autonomous learningability. However, under the new model, how about the usage of collegeEnglish autonomous learning strategies? How about the using effects of theEnglish autonomous learning strategies? Large numbers of college Englishteachers, education scholars and management department has been attractedhighly by these questions.The present study of English language learning strategies under thecomputer-and classroom-based model is quite systematic in both theory andpractice. This study adopts literature review, questionnaire survey, interview,spot observation and other research methods. In this paper, a total of120students from non-English major of Grade09and10in Hebei University ofScience and Technology participated in the study, and using the SPSS17.0statistics software to analyze of the collection data. Based on the survey of the English autonomous learning strategies under the new model, the thesisinvestigates the following four questions:1. Under the computer-and classroom-based model, how do the collegenon-English major students use English autonomous learning strategies?2. Under the computer-and classroom-based model, are there anydifferences between male and female students on English languageautonomous learning strategies?3. Under the computer-and classroom-based model, are there anydifferences between successful students and less successful students onEnglish language autonomous learning strategies?4. Under the computer-and classroom-based model, what is therelationship between students’ using of English autonomous learningstrategies and their achievements?Based on the research about the college English autonomous learningstrategies under the new teaching model, the author found out that it issignificant for students to use English autonomous learning strategies in orderto improve their learning efficiency. Meanwhile, owing to the unbalance andunsystematic English autonomous learning strategies’ using, the authorproposed creatively to adopt a complex English learning model to adapt the College English Curriculum Requirements. According to the findings of thesurvey, some suggestions are given for the college English teaching andlearning under the new model.
