| Quality-oriented education aims to improve the overall quality ofChinese students. Piano education, as a powerful means to reach that goal,plays a fundamental and indispensable role in its operation. In the past fewdecades, the passion of Chinese students for amateur piano education has kepta continuous rise. In almost every class of kindergartens and primary schoolsin Hohhot City, for example, there are always a few students taking amateurpiano lessons. What’s more, some middle-aged and senior citizens also beginlearning piano as a hobby. Amateur piano teaching is the key to the healthydevelopment of China’s national piano education, but there have alreadyemerged in it some problems that need serious reflection. Piano amateurstudents need a pleasant learning environment to improve their expertise andto soundly develop themselves. To achieve that, apart from the enhancementof professional skills, all students, parents, teachers and other socialcommunities should alter their views on amateur piano education. This paper,based on a questionnaire survey in Hohhot City, intends to explore theproblems in that region concerning amateur piano teaching, then gives anin-depth analysis of the problems, and at last puts forward a few insightfulsolutions.This paper includes five parts: Part One is the introduction presents theorigins and meanings of this research, the study object and methodology. PartTwo introduces the development and significance of amateur piano teachingin Hohhot City, with the first part focusing on the definition of amateur pianoteaching, the second introducing the general development of Hohhot City andthat of the amateur piano teaching, and the last elaborating on the interviewsof the author with certain amateur piano training organizations, such asXinghai Piano Club, the Shao Nian Palace, and some private piano teachinginstitutions. These interviews give a general view of their course ofdevelopment, current condition, modes of training, teaching staffs and achievement, artistic practices and so on. Meanwhile, these interviews clarifythe positive influences the above teaching modes bring onto students andteachers. Part Three is the research and analysis of the current situation of theamateur piano teaching in Hohhot City. The author, through the interviewsand questionnaire surveys on amateur piano teaching organizations, pianoteachers, students and their parents, makes an analysis on the basic conditionof the amateur piano learning, students’ piano learning and their socialactivities, and then summarizes the present condition of children’ amateurpiano teaching and the problem it reflects. Part Four is the reflection of thisproblem. Problems like the role and function parents have in their children’spiano learning, the teaching and learning in adults’ piano study, the amateurpiano players’ qualification confirmation and piano competition in society, thebalance between piano study and literacy class learning, the diversity of theteaching mode, the developing of collective class teaching and some otherconcerning problems. Part Five is the development conception of the amateurpiano teaching. Combine with teaching experience, the author will givesome suggestions on the amateur piano teaching. The author suggest thatpiano teachers should improve their qualities, keep the music qualityknowledge all along with the piano teaching, strengthen the ability ofAccompaniment Improvisation, optimize the teaching force, choose mostappropriate piano teaching materials, increase the chances of academicexchanges and strive to promote the network teaching.I believe that the research result of this paper will have practical andguiding significance to promote the further development of the amateur pianoteaching. |
