Chinese traditional virtue of "respecting life" has extremely rich ideological content and very precious theoretical value. Many of its principles and ideas influence our working and life so much on today’s21st century. Chinese traditional virtue of "respecting life" has extremely important practical significance and far-reaching historical value. Research and understanding it again, not only can help modern people better understanding and grasping life, but also can help people make more contributions to society.The author tries to analyze and research Chinese traditional virtue of "respecting life" in five aspects. Firstly, analyze the definition and the original of respecting life"."The Book of changes" put forward "life is changeable"."Lu spring and autumn" have "There is nothing more precious than life in the world, which is the saint passed over his mind get the conclusion". Secondly, research the Chinese traditional virtue of "respecting life", use the pre-Qin period Confucianism, Taoism and Mohist School as example. Confucianism emphasize on spiritual life; Taoism care about the nature life; and Mohist School pursuing the social life. Confucianism, Taoism and Mohist School not only have their own theoretical perspectives, but also have its own practice process. Thirdly, analyze the reason of the current "respecting life" lost. The main performance are people ignore life, pursuit fame and fortune too much then alienation life, killing animal and harm to human, hurt the body for pursuit pleasure, indulge desires.
