As the influence of Internet increases day by day, cyber language accordinglyextends its impact and gains development in the Internet, as well as in the real worldsince cyber language has gradually permeated the real world talk and communication.Therefore, the study of cyber language become a necessity and can in certain providelinguistic field new research vitality. This thesis conducted the research of cyberlanguage from the perspective of anti-language.Anti-language was first coined and introduced by the famous linguist,Halliday(1976).There are actually no researches on how to define a language asanti-language and no findings which try to come up with the standards to determinewhether a language is anti-language. This thesis tried to fill this gap and present fourcriterions for anti-language according to the five anti-language characteristicspresented by Ming-yu Tseng(1997), aimed at testifying cyber language is a kind ofanti-language so as to find a new direction for linguistic research. The analysis provesthat: cyber language is in accordance with all of the four criterions and can beidentified as anti-language. The finding will provide implications for future studies oncyber language and can pave a path from the anti-language perspective to researchcyber language.This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter1introduces the thesis’sresearch background, research significance and the research outline. Chapter2provides literature review for the research and find the gap to fill for the next furthertwo chapters. Chapter3, in accordance with the five anti-language characteristics(Ming-yu Tseng,1997), explores and organized four criterions for anti-language.Chapter4analyzes and testifies whether cyber language is a kind of anti-language inbasis of the four criterions come up with in Chapter3. Chapter5is the conclusion part,which summarizes the whole research and provides the suggestions for the furtherstudies.
