Research On Folk Songs Of Wuzhou Yao In Hunan Provinces And Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

As a kind of folk song form of China’s minority nationalities, the folk songs Wuzhou Yao People possess distinct characteristics and unique cultural contents. The songs are resulted from the integration of Yao and Han Nationalities and their cultures, and fully reflect the positive influence of cultural propagation and integration to national culture.From the angles of history, musicology, anthropology (ethnology), sociology, folkloristics and linguistics, the paper uses a method combining China’s traditional music theory and ethnomusicology, which stresses on both history documents and field survey and focuses on deep analysis of music. The paper aims to making systematic analysis on the music, and then explaining the folk songs against the historical and cultural background of Wuzhou Yao People, thus making ethnomusicological study on these songs at a deeper level.Basic structure and contents of the paper:Part1Wuzhou Yao People and their folk songs includes four chapters. Chapter Ⅰ elaborates and explains the history and culture of Wuzhou Yao People from the angles of the definition, history and element; Chapter Ⅱ focuses on describing the various kinds and singing tradition in the area where Wuzhou Yao People reside; Chapter Ⅲ analyzes the lyrics of the folk songs of Wuzhou Yao People in aspects of main words and supportive words by taking "Butterfly Song" as the example. Chapter Ⅳ studies and analyzes the music of the folk songs of Wuzhou Yao People, and elaborates the musical form characteristics in six aspects as singing form, pitch organization, singing time, texture, form structure and harmony. Part2Protection and Inheritance of the Folk Songs of Wuzhou Yao People consists of four chapters, which analyze the inheritance meaning of the folk songs, the current situation of the songs, protection works done by musicology circle and local governments, and thoughts on the inheritance and protection of the folk songs of Wuzhou Yao People.
