In order to explore how the duration and type of the spatial cuing influence the visualmasking. We conduct two studies by using the participant of college students, which choosethe single complete ring or sixteen complete rings as cue experimental materials, choosesixteen pictures which half the rings have a vertical bar across the bottom as target stimulusmaterials, and choose the four dots as the masking stimulus materials. We examine thememories grades of the students under the situations which are the duration and type of thespatial cuing. The results are as follows:(1) the duration of the spatial cuing is divided into six timeslots; these are10ms,20ms,45ms,80ms,100ms, and180ms. And separately examine theinfluence of visual masking. Experiment1shows that the strength of visual masking declinedprogressively as the duration of the spatial cuing increased, that is, memories grades of thestudents are more and more high, and suggests that the duration of the spatial cuing is theimportant factor which influences the visual masking;(2) Experiment2shows that theduration and type of the spatial cuing significantly influence the visual masking. Within thevalid trials of the spatial cuing, the visual masking is the worst; under the invalid trials of thespatial cuing conditions, the masking is the best; and the masking is between the valid and theinvalid trails in the neutral trails. What’s more, both the duration (20ms,80ms and180ms) andtype of the spatial cuing have significantly interaction.
