When two targets are presented in a rapid serial visual presentation, identifcation of the frst is nearly perfect, while identifcation of the second is impaired when it follows the frst by less than about500ms. This phenomenon is known as the attentional blink (AB). Two experiments were conducted to investigatethe effects of Executive Control Processes of Working Memory on AB. Employed a memory-attetion dual task design, in experiment1, participants were askedto retain2,4or6memory items, at the same time perform another general ABtask. The experimental results show that working memory capacity influence the overall recognition rate of T1and T2, but have no effect on the size of AB.In experiment2, participants required to complete a matching judgment task (incolor matching task, required to inhibition the interference of the identity of thedigits; in matching task, required to inhibit the interference of color), at the same time perform another AB task. The results of Experiment2show that colormatching task requires a higher level of executive control involved, it requiresto ignore the alphanumeric property and focus on the stimulus color alone, thus, the performance of AB were worse. That explain executive control processes ofworking memory modulation of the attentional blink. In addition, experiment2didn’t show a normal lag1sparing phenomenon, thought is T1processing require high level executive control involved, result in input filter exogenous to change their Set. Present result support the theory of temporary loss of control (TLC)pertaining to the AB, That is highlights the importance of Executive Control function in AB. Reflected in inhibition of distracting stimuli on the one hand andthe selection of the target stimuli on the other.
