Tony Morrison is one of most well-known Afro-American female writersin American literature and Afro-American literature,especially for her novelsin20th century. In1993, Tony Morrison wins a Nobel Literature Prize byspoil son,which attains her a good reputation all over the world and draws thefocus of attention both from readers and critics in the U.S.A. Nowadays, TonyMorrison has written nine novels whose figures are all based onAfro-American female and the appearance of the White is partly served forAfro-American. This thesis mainly studies the different mothers’ love in thefollowing works: The Most Blue Eyes, Spoil Son and Heaven etc., where thewriter describe Afro-American mothers’ miserable living conditions,arduouslove and their struggle for mothers’ rights under the background of Americanpower literature and the oppression of slavery to speak out the writer’s mindand thinking to her readers. When Negro are forced to America Continent,Negro are confronted with choices between White and Black culture. Theystruggle to maintain their own culture in White society and try to fight tochange their poor destiny but they lose their way in White society. And whereare their real freedom and true meaning under the background of slavery andracial and gender discrimination? In such embarrassed predicaments, TonyMorrison, as an American Negro writer, regards Negro, especially theirmothers, as their transmitters of traditional culture, focusing on their difficultchoices to Negro traditional culture. In this sense, the writer is not only tryingto represent the difficult choices to Negro traditional mothers’ love culture tofurther find out good culture atmosphere but also has strong consciousness toimprove the rebuild and construction toAmerican Negro culture.In the thesis, I try to explore the dilemma about American Negromothers’ love in the process of mixture of White and Black culture throughthe works of Tony Morrison, which is described as three parts: mother loves’lost, distortion and return in White and Black culture.
