Study On Family Migration Data Model Based On Chinese Genealogy

Genealogy is an important component of the historical and cultural resources of China, which together with official history and chorography constitute the all history datum in China. Genealogy is a history of family development, which records lineage and achievement of family members. With the expansion of family, some members migrate from one place to another, so a new family was produced. It also causes phenomena that members of one family are scattered all around. Since ancient times, Chinese has a strong feeling of falling leaves on the roots. Genealogy records the lineage of family members and the source and migration of the family, which is major basis for people to find ancestor. Therefore it becomes tie to contact the Chinese descendant both at home and abroad. In addition, the migration of members related to the social context of politics, economics and so on, which reflect social situations at that time. So the migration information of genealogy provides important material for the study of history.The migration information of genealogy is already used in social history, population history, family migration history, and so on. But there are some factors prevent the study of migration information. On the one hand, because there are no effective methods to organize and gather data, it is not conducive to mine the regularity in the migration information. On the other hand, the migration information of genealogy is mostly about personal member, which cannot to integrate with all members, therefore it is hardly to build family migration route, that is not conductive to research the situation of family migration as a whole. The two questions are the bottleneck to make use of migration information of genealogy to find ancestor and to make a study of history.With the application requirements of finding ancestor and history research, taking the migration information in genealogy as objects of study, the research focus on migrating members, and organize the personal migration information according to lineage, that reflect the migration situation of family completely. Based on analysis about the spatial-temporal process of family migration, taking from the research of human migration and spatial-temporal data model, this paper constructs family migration model and database. The author chooses typical genealogy and develops the system to analyze features of family migration. That will provide method and technology basis to use migration information in the genealogies more effectively form both individual and holistic aspects.The main research content and achievements of this paper are as follows:(1) The family migration data model. Based on the analysis of user’s demands, features of migration data, and spatial-temporal features of family migration process, the study constructs family migration model form the individual and holistic aspects, which could effectively organize migration data and reflect the spatial-temporal process of family migration.(2) Methods to analyze and express features of family migration. Based on GIS technology and statistical method, the author develops the family migration system. Selecting typical examples, the paper explores methods to express and analyze features of family migration, with the modules of migration map analysis, migration data statistics and migration reason inquire.
