Quatrains is the essence of classical Chinese poetry, especially quatrains of the TangDynasty.Wei Yingwu is the most famous poet in Dali period,also a key figure in theprocess of change in poetic style in the Golden time of Tang between the Middle TangDynasty.Wei Yingwu has a more important position in the history of the development ofthe Tang Quatrains.Most researches foucus on his ancient-style poetry,but the creativetalent of Wei Yingwu is not limited to ancient-style poetry,his quatrains also achieve ahigher artistic achievement. The numbers of his quatrains is considerable as well as theartistic achievement,It is the esthetic value of these quatrains that determines they arewell worth researching.This thesis is to discourse Wei Yingwu’s quatrains,summarized the themes andemotions,discusses its unique style and the formation of the causes,and to explore thestatus of its overall achievements on quatrains in the history of the Tang Quatrains.The article is divided into four parts.The first part.Wei Yingwu’s quatrains containsthe reciprocate poem、scenic poem and chant things poem.He also wrote some poemswhich expressed his homesick, squandered his pain of Mourn and the consequent feelingof seclusion.So the second part provides an overview on emotional expression of WeiYingwu’s quatrains.The third part.The artic style of Wei Yingwu’s quatrains was subtle、ancient light and quiet.But sometimes is also chic, showing the coexistence of light andchic poetic style.The forth Part.The particuly era in which Wei Yingwu lives makes hisquatrains unique.Wei Yingwu is a Runner of the Golden time of Tang Dynasty and alsodifferent from the Dali poet, but a famous one.The conclusion part.Statistics about somebooks which selected Wei Yingwu’s quatrains reveals the great significance onFive-character and Seven-character quatrains of Wei Yingwu in the Tang Dynasty, eventhe entire history of Chinese poetry.
