The Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) presented by Howard Gardner in the late1980s has won a global welcome. For decades, this theory has enormously impacted onthe field of education, and as a matter of fact, it also has offered a new visual field for theresearch of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL).In order to find a new wayfor TCSL, this paper discusses how we can use the MI theory for reference to enhance theefficiency of TCSL, especially the efficiency of teaching Chinese language elements. This paper adopts the methods of interdisciplinary research, exploratory researchand descriptive research, also including the author’s data studies and teachingexperiences. It is divided into four chapters:Chapter one summarizes the origin and the purpose of this research, and tells thecurrent research status of related field. Chapter two introduces the MI theory, and arguesits great influences on education and its development. Chapter three is the key part, which analyses the feasibility, particularity and operation steps about using the MI theoryfor reference to enhance the efficiency of teaching Chinese language elements.Furthermore, some teaching design references aiming at pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and Chinese characters have been presented. Finally, Chapter four mainlypoints out the contributions and limitations of this paper.
