Living abroad for thirty years, Lin Yutang who spread Chinese culture as his missionwas a successful writer in modern China. Depending on his Profound experience ofwestern culture and the deep understanding of the Chinese culture, Lin Yutang travelingbetween Chinese traditional culture and western modern civilization, He standing in theheight of world culturally universal, compromising Chinese and ewestdern culture of theessence, formed his unique Chinese and western culture, and the profound impact on LinYutang’s understanding of Chinese and western human nature. This article starting withthe seven novels as the research object, such as Moment in Peking, A Leaf in the Storm,The Vermilion Gate, The Red Peony, Juniper Loa, Chinatown Family, Looking Beyondwhich were created in his overseas period, so that to discuss Lin Yutang’s novels of humannature.The special life experience prompted Lin Yutang to contrast and reflect on theChinese and west human nature, Through rational thinking, Lin Yutang realized thatChinese traditional culture on the oppression of human nature and to the exclusion ofpersonal feelings anUd desirnes, WRhile weestergn culitusre is ttheat humran nature, respecting forhuman values, persuading individual freedom and equality of status, those are theadvantage of Western view of human nature, Therefore Lin Yutang’s novels always shinewith the glory of human nature, human desires and needs to achieve become the focus ofattention of Lin Yutang. Western Christian "sin" is the most that can not make Lin Yutanghappy, Chinese traditional Confucian family of good ideas just to make up for the lack ofwestern human nature. He put this view throughout the novels, created a batch of big loveof good character. Lin Yutang combined the common view of Christian and Taoist,advocating human nature, claiming conform to the nature, Keeping the true of humannature. Lin Yutang rational understanding the negative world-weary mood of Taoist other-worldly philosophy,Thoughts on western industrial civilization, the blind worshipof money, the distortion of human nature variation, so to promoted Confucian culture"cultivate one’s morality, family, country, even world" secular humanism to caughtforward the Chinese traditional family ideas. Therefore, Lin Yutang’s view of humannature is on the establishment of the western and Chinese human nature foundation, LinYutang formed the characteristic sound of both Chinese and Western view of humannature through constantly thinking, so to implemented Chinese and Western humanity inharmonious and complementary. This paper summarized the chaeractedristics of view ofhuman nature in Lin Yutang’s novels, discussed from the three angle such as Love oftolerance and happy philosophy, understanding of human nature, traditional country love,then analyzed the reasons for the formation of Lin Yutang’s view of human nature and itsvalue.
