As the population aging is becoming more and more serious nowadays, theattention towards the aged is also become more and more popular, prospectivememory aging effect has gradually become one of the hot researches. This study hasboth important theoretical and practical significance, prospective memory aging effectnot only enrich the overall study of memory, but also contribute practical help to theaged to a certain extent through the experiments of the characteristics of the differenttarget cues.In this paper, the experiments that are based on the classical study of prospectivememory paradigm--dual task paradigm, which discusses the affection towards theprospective memory aging effect due to different target cues, contains twoexperiments:In the first experiment, the independent variables are different types of cues andload of memory task. The types of cues contains two situations, one is specific cuesanother is notional cues. While the load of memory includes high load and low loadtwo situations. The dependent variable of the experiment is the correct rate andreaction time of old subject, and also discuss the differences between the differentages of the old subject. In the second experiment, the independent variables are different distinction ofcues and load of memory task. The types of cues contains two situations, one is highdistinctive cues another is low distinctive cues. While the load of memory includeshigh load and low load two situations. The dependent variable of the experiment is thecorrect rate and reaction time of old subject, and also discuss the differences betweenthe different ages of the old subject. The main results are elaborated as following:Firstly, the experimental results support the theory of dual processing ofprospective memory.Secondly, the experimental results support the view, which from the cognitiveprocessing perspective to explain the idea that the prospective memory is becomeworse as the age increasing.Thirdly, different load of current task affects the correct rate and reaction time ofthe old subject to finish the prospective memory activity.Fourthly, the characteristics of prospective memory target cues affect the quality of prospective memory activities to some extent.Fifthly, prospective memory aging effect is basically a gradual deepening trendwith increasing age, but using memory strategies can effectively improve the qualityof the completion of prospective memory task.
