Since China’s accession to WTO in2001, huge market temptation and lots ofbusiness opportunities have attracted foreign capitals around the world to flow intodifferent parts of China’s Film industry through varied investment channels and paths.This trend and many issues triggered from it have caused common concerns amongboth of the industry and academia in recent years.This research focuses on the mode of foreign capitals’ entry, including what kindsof modes they prefer and the regulations behind their choices, in order to offerreference for the financing mechanism of China’s foreign investment in film industry.The research is based on comprehensive research methods including analysis ofavailable documents, a questionnaire among China’s foreign-capital film enterprisesand intensive interviews with industry experts from Beijing, Shanghai andGuangzhou.The research finds out that, in recent10years, foreign capitals’ inflows haveexperienced four development stages of ‘testing the waters’,‘going deep’,‘enclosingland’ and ‘optimizing’. The choices of entry modes have been constantly optimized.Till now, foreign capitals have gained great achievements in influx scale, penetrationsize and market performance.Meanwhile, after analyzing the matching situation of foreign capitals’ forms andinflux patterns in the film industry, the research finds out that China’s film industry’sutilization efficiency of foreign capitals is still in a primary stage. The best choice fora win-win result is introducing foreign capitals efficiently and reasonably into China’sfilm industry through contractual entry modes.In the future, the transnational competition in global media and culture fields is, ina sense, the competition of capitals. Exploring development is the most important taskfor China’s film industry in the cooperation and competition with foreign capitals.Facing with the positive and negative influence caused by the huge inflows of foreigncapitals, the research suggests the industry to build one concerned subject oriented onlocal enterprises’ competitiveness and establish two systems focused on marketregulation and administrative supervision.
