The musical cultural industry is a combination of modern technology and culture withmusical arts, in accordance with current system of industrial commodity production. As apart of cultural industry, it is a new cultural form which treats music as a commodity, goingthrough the process of production, reproduction, storage, and distribution of music productsand services by industrial standard, which concentrates on the musical arts andcommercializes it by business activities (such as commercial performance, audiovisualcommunication, musical culture media and other means). All the activities associating withthe art of music itself in the musical culture industry have offered the public a platform ofmaterial, spiritual and cultural consumption.As a rising industry, the music cultural industries possess huge space for futuredevelopment and have been an important cultural characteristic of modern society. In themodern society, the value of music arts is based on the musical cultural industries, and theobjectives of business organizations driven by music cultural industries are no more than tocreate economic value, as well as social value.In this essay, applying the research methods and perspectives related to musicalsociology, music communication and art marketing, we will take vocal performing arts inthe industrial chain of China’s musical cultural market as a starting point, make a researchon the cases providing successful operation examples of vocal performing arts entering intocommercial market and elaborate on social phenomena related to musical commoditycirculation,(such as urban music culture, the contemporary public’s view of music), as wellas artistic planning of vocal performances, marketing operations and its social functions.Therefore, we can explore the developmental law of the vocal performances in the currentcultural market, and illustrate market behaviors, consumption demands and industrialmodels.
