PengZhou and other7counties’speeches in the southwest of Sichuan Province which belong to the branch of the MinJiang area are of abrupt sound tone independent.(According to Huang Xuezhen’s paper "Districts of the Southwestern Mandarin")The characteristic of the branch is that the abrupt sound tone in ancient time are now read as the same, and it is different from ChengDu speech which represents the southwestern mandarin.There are few researches on the8counties’speeches by now and neither the books nor papers of the comparisons of the phonetic systems are published.The research is the first paper including the complete investigation of the speeches of PengZhou, East DuJiangYan, West DuJiangYan, QiongLai, ChongZhou, DaYi, PuJiang, XinJing, systematical records of the phonetic systems in this area, vertical and horizontal comparison of the phonetic systems and conclusion of the internal phonetic characteristics.The paper includes six parts:The first part is an overview of the study of the PengZhou and other7counties’speeches in the southwest of Sichuan Province, phonetic materials,methods and the respondents and investigation time.The second part includes the general situations on the geographical features and location, the historical evolution and the human migration of the8counties.The third part includes the description of the phonetic systems of the speeches of the8counties.The fourth part is the comparison of the phonetic systems of MinJiang area and ChengDu in order to analyse the internal phonetic characteristics of MinJiang area according to the system of "GuangYun"in ancient time.The fifth part shows the general features of the speeches in the8counties.The sixth part attaches to schedules including8maps of the counties.The methods of comparative historical linguistics and Chinese dialectology are adopted in the paper and synchronic descriptions are combined with the historical investigations. The vertical comparison of the phonetic systems of8counties according to the system of "GuangYun"and horizontal comparison of the phonetic systems of ChengDu are necessary to finding the differences and the same place and reveal the regulations of the evolution of the speeches in8counties. |
