| As a new branch of translation studies, cognitive psychology of translation provides a newperspective to study the microscopic process of translation. Feminist translators as a specialgroup with specific features are also influenced by cognitive psychology. Metacognitvepsychology, as one aspect of the psycho-cognitive theory, concerns with the translators’cognition of the process of translation and their ability to manipulate the process, which playsan important role in the process of translation. This thesis tries to analyze the embodiment offeminist translation under the influence of metacognitve psychology with examples in TheColor Purple.Chapter â… is a brief introduction about the achievements both western and domestic scholarshave made in the field of psycho-cognitive translation. And it also gives an analysis about thesignificance of the study. Chapter â…¡ reviews the theory of feminist translation and give anintroduction to the author, Alice Walker, the novel, The Color Purple, and the two Chineseversions of the novel and their translators. Chapter â…¢ provides the theoretical foundation ofthis thesis—metacognition. It includes three basic elements: metacognitive knowledge,metacognitve experience and metecognitive control. In this chapter, two models of cognitiveprocessing of translation and two psycho-metacognitive phases of translation are explained.Chapter â…£ is the main part of this thesis. It concretely analyzes the embodiment of feministtranslation under the influence of metacognitive psychology with examples in The ColorPurple. Three aspects including embodiment of female subjectivity, embodiment of feministtranslators’ subjectivity and embodiment of feminist strategies are discussed. In the lastchapter, a conclusion is drawn in the light of the previous chapters that the metacognitivepsychology of translators exerts much positive influence on the feminist translation and moreadvancement in this aspect is to be made in the future study. |
