In1923, in his article On the ambiguity, Rosso (B. Russe), a famous British analyst said " language is more or less ambiguous ", revealing the fuzziness of human’s A language for the first time. Studies about fuzzy linguistics in China started almost in the late1970s, which was relatively later. Wu Tieping, a Professor in Beijing Normal University, published A Basic Study On Vague Lnguage in1979. It marked the birth of fuzzy linguistics in China. In1983, Wang Xijie laid the foundation of this subject by firstly using the disciplinary term of fuzzy linguistics in his essay the Theory of Fuzziness and Rhetoric. Based on document style, this paper analyses rhetorical devices of document style and compares them with fuzzy rhetoric means, studies the structure of fuzzy rhetoric and its principle as well as how to avoid its negative impact in order to enhance its positive effects.This paper is divided into four major chapters, the first chapter introduces the fuzzy rhetoric briefly, including the history of vague language and the concept of fuzzy linguistics. The second chapter is mainly about rhetoric means in general document writing. This chapter is divided into three small parts, firstly what is document, and the stylistic language used in document; secondly the study on the application of positive rhetoric in documents, such as metaphor, metonymy, dual, parallel, and rhetoric question; meanwhile it contains the study on the usage of negative rhetoric in documents, such as:quote, points out items, the number of takes, twist words.The third chapter is the focus of this article. First of all, it introduce the definition of ambiguous words, their classification and structure; and then analyses means of rhetoric from the aspects of vague rhetoric, fuzzy parenthesis, vague allegations of language, abnormal contradictions with fuzzy language and fuzzy rhetoric. Finally, based on the research, the paper summerizes the principles of fuzzy rhetoric in documents and suggests how to avoid the negative impact of fuzzy rhetoric to enhance its positive effects. Chapter IV comes to a conclusion. It summarizes the useful experience and underlying problems of studying fuzzy rhetoric, hoping to arouse the attention and researches of scholars, aiming at perfect this subject.
