Translation refers to the transformation of two languages. Language varies from place, time and people. Therefore, different translation texts have their different language characteristics. Children’s literature is different from adult’s literature.Children’s literature translation has its own standard. Reception theory tells the translator that they should regard the child reader as the center and children’s language as the standard in children’s literature translation. They should adopt the language which is suitable for children to read as well as enjoyed by children. The adult translator should stress the child readers’subject roles as subject and respect children’s horizons of expectation including their education background, morality, aesthetic ability, language reception ability, cognitive reception ability and so on. This paper only adopts horizon of expectation and role of readers as the theory base to analyze children’s literature translation for the language characteristics.By analyzing the reader’s horizon of expectation of the original text and his important role of reader, the paper knows the reason why Ren Rongrong knows the child reader so well and why he respects the child reader. His understanding and respect for children gives him the chance to know the children. By analyzing the word diction and sentence structure of Ren Rongrong’s Chinese version of Charlotte s Web, the author finds that the language of Ren Rongrong’s Chinese version has the following characteristics. First, the language is simple. Second, the language is concrete. Third, the language is beautiful. By reading the simple, concrete and beautiful language, the child readers can enjoy and understand the meaning, idea and aesthetic value of the author of the original work. The author of this paper gets the conclusion that the characteristics of children’s literature are as follows: the language should be simple, concrete and beautiful. The author of this paper hopes the paper could give some suggestions to the translators of children’s literature translation so that they can supply more good translations for children.
