Sculptor Jinfa Li

Li Jinfa was one of important sculptors who back from abroad in early twentieth Century of China and considered as pioneer of Chinese modern sculpture. But so far the study on Li Jinfa is still extremely lopsided, for the study of his poetry is deeper and wider far more than the sculpture research. And the study of Li Jinfa’s sculpture was limited in his sculpture career and Education. Therefore, it’s very necessary to take the study on his sculpture art itself.This article about Li Jinfa’s Sculpture centers on three aspects. From the perspective of Li Jinfa’s sculpture style, he kept the traditional realism of Western Academism. This relates to the Li Jinfa’s experiences, and also reflects the times interest in early Republic China. As far as the content of Li Jinfa’s sculpture is concerned, they were mostly contemporary celebrity sculpture, which was the concentrated expression of social support system at that time. It is fairly evident from Li Jinfa’s art idea that he didn’t take sculpture sincerely all the time which forms a sharp contrast to his attitude towards poetry. This also influenced his artistic attainments ultimately.Through the above three aspects discuss, this article questions to put Li Jinfa as " a leading authority of Chinese sculpture ", with expecting to receiving the response broadly.
