Analysis About Humor Theory Of Lin Yutang

The humor theory that brought forth in1920-30s by Lin Yutang who was initiator of it has always been a controversial figure because of historic limitations and individual factors. People pass different judgments on his humor theory, so there is a need to study the humor theory and quarry the reasons of dispute. Firstly, this study systematically expounds the humor theory of Lin Yutang and its contents and characters in every develop steps base on the history of literature, humor psychology, sociology and history visual angle after carding and reviewing the related literatures. Secondly, combine with the humor theory, this study seeks the factors of culture background of humor theory to take shape and propose, explores the putting to use of humor theory in essay. Thirdly, this study investigates the gains and losses about humor theory put forward by LinYutang according to evaluation by LuXun et al. Finally, this study gets the conclusion that the humor theory of LinYutang has mixed feelings and tragic consciousness. LinYutang and the humor theory of him service the contemporary literature theory of China and has promotion the development of humor essay. Overall, LinYutang merits outweigh those mistakes.
