History And Growth

Since the end of last century, the effect of the internet has involved in the literature; it impacts the traditional literature through idea, creation and acceptance. Thus, a new literature pattern, namely, cyber literature, was born. Cyber literature grows up strong and sturdy and become to maturity, although the definition of cyber literature and its meaning is a controversial issue. As a branch of various Chinese literatures, feminine literature is also affected by the internet, and is attracting more and more attention. This thesis studies the writing themes of the feminine cyber literature; based on the related theories of feminism and extensive feminine cyber novels of the new century, it investigates the subjects of female writers, i.e. the history, the growth, and the relations between history and growth. The achievements and some flaws of feminine cyber literature are discussed in order to present the panorama of the cyber literature works of new age female.This thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter1introduces the terms and their definitions related to cyber literature, and the background and purpose of the topic selection. As for female,’history’is the base of’growth’, while’growth’is the demonstration of’history’; therefore, female writer should grasp these two subjects firmly if they want to search and confirm self-worth and individual value. So, taking’history’and’growth’as the cut-in points could help us to know better of feminine cyber literature; it also paves a delicate way to read female circumstances.Chapter2discusses in detail the’history’topic of the new age feminine cyber literature. Female writers create many female characters both historically or figuratively through remolding or imagining; thus they appears in the stage of literature history substituting men as the protagonist of history. They witness the history passage, and change the track of the history intentionally or unintentionally; thus they alter the majesty’history’into pink’herstory’. In the chapter, the female inherent characteristics, such as curiosity, leisure, jocosity, and relish, are also studied.Chapter3discourses on the’growth’topic. Growth includes two meaning, viz. the physical body growth and mental maturing; therefore this chapter discusses the growth theme from two aspects, namely’body’and’love’. As contrast to the previous writers who emphasize the subject of sex, new age female cyber writers pay more attention to simplicity and unruliness of the growth while ignoring the difference of sex. They describe the pursuit, interpretation and suspicion of love, the feelings of suppressed soul, just out of rebellions and other purposes, in order to evade the inner bewilderment and resentment so that they can find and validate the existence of themselves.Chapter4discloses the interrelations of’history’and’growth’:these two themes both can explore the female experiences; they imply abundant life experiences of female individuals and groups.A conclusion is presented at the end of the thesis; it summarizes the two main topics of feminine cyber literature, i.e.’history’and’growth’, and it also points out the hidden problems and suggestions of further studies.
