Objective To explore socioeconomic status that influenced smoking and drinking behavior in adolescents. Furthermore, life events as mediators of the relation between socioeconomic status and smoking and drinking in adolescents were established.Method According to random and many cluster sampling method, a total of10313middle school students, from grade7to grade12were recruited from ten cities of China. They were investigated with the questionnaire titled "Subjective Socioeconomic Status Scale for Chinese Adolescents (SSS-CA)""Adolescent Life Events Scale (ASLEC)""Adolescent Health Related Risky Behavior Inventory (AHRBI)" and general demographic form at the same time. SPSS19.0packages were used for data analyzing. Using AMOS17.0packages test the life events as mediator the relation of SSS and smoking and drinking.Results (1) In adolescents’smoking drinking behavior, the rate of drinking is21.1%, the rate of smoking is12.8%. By education degree of mother, smoking and drinking score have significantly negative correlation (r=-0.06); Family income and smoking, drinking behavior is not relevant; Subjective family status and smoking, drinking behavior score is significantly negative correlation (r=-0.05~-0.07); Subjective school status and the scores of smoking, drinking have a significant negative correlation (r=0.04-0.06).(2) Each factor of life events related to the subjective family status and school status have significantly negative correlation (r=-0.06~-0.15), related to smoking and drinking behavior have significantly positive correlation (r=0.13-0.34).(3) Subjective socioeconomic status and life events can predict youth smoking and drinking behavior, and life events as mediator the relation of SSS and smoking, drinking in adolescents.Conclusion (1) The relationship of life events, SES, smoking and drinking behavior are closely, the scores of life events and smoking, with the drinking behavior have significant positive correlation, SES is related to smoking and drinking is a significant negative correlation.(2)SSS and life events can predict youth smoking and drinking behaviors, and life events as mediator the relation of SSS and smoking, drinking in adolescents.
