With the deepening of relations between China and Thailand,"Mandarin Fever" has been more and more popular in Thailand. Every year, the number of Chinese learners keeps increasing rapidly. Chinese is becoming a major foreign language as important as English in Thailand. Hence, how to find an efficient method to evaluate the learning effects of those learners has given rise to Chinese teachers’ concern. They also care much about ways to stimulate students’ interest in learning Chinese.Formative assessment is an assessment aimed at improving the quality of actual ongoing education via providing feedbacks for education through analyzing the problems appearing in the process of teaching as well as the plan of it. In recent years, more and more importance has been attached to formative assessment in China. Nevertheless, most of those researches stress in the theoretical field. Only a few of those are about the application of formative assessment in Chinese teaching practice, not to mention the situation among overseas Chinese learners.This paper discusses the application of formative assessment among Thai Chinese learners based on teaching experiments. This thesis contains four chapters. The first one is introduction which expounds the research background of formative assessment and points out the meaning of application of formative assessment among Thai learners in the Chinese learning. It also retrospects researches and their achievements in this field at home and abroad. The current situation of formative assessment is also introduced. In chapter2, some relative concepts are interpreted.In chapter3, the current situation of evaluation of Chinese learning in Thailand and analysis of existing formative assessment cases. It also presents the design ideas and implement of questionnaires. Chapter4focuses on the teaching experimental design on the ground of the concept of formative assessment, containing selection of teaching objectives, excogitation of teaching plan, supervision over teaching activities, analysis of teaching results. In chapter5, enlightenment we draw from this experimental research is discussed. Some problems occurring in the implement of formative assessment in the process of learning Chinese among Thai learners are also brought about. Some problems to be studied are also put forward. At last, some suggestions to solve those problems are presented. |
