During the Republic of China, the research of Yi-ology shows a "colorful" and "a hundred schools of thought contend" situation, this situation is far beyond the range of traditional " Meaning-pattern " and " Images and Numbers ". Besides the school of ancient history,"textual research sent","materialist","scientific Yi", there are scholars who insist on the study of traditional methods of Yi. Shang Binghe is the one who is outstanding among the "traditional school" scholars, and he epitomizes the "Images-ology". I humbly think that Shang’s study is a self-contained system. Although it is sometimes over-interpreted, it is very important to the research of Yi-ology Today, it is available for us to re-study and re-evaluate the study during the Republic of China, which is, after all, a period with a brilliant history of academic prosperity."Shang’s Yi" as one of the important achievements of the Republic of China, still needs in-depth study.In this thesis, I concentrated on Shang’s life experience, his making friends, and his research, and studied his books of Yi. I also summarized his methods of research, his interpretation of the system of the Book of Changes, searched for the esoteric meaning; and revealed the self-consistency and preciseness in Shang’s Yi. I studied his academic source (his inheritance and abandon to previous theory) from the history direction, and the academic extension and impact after his death, and compared his research with the contemporary scholars to illustrate the academic fashion of his time. And in this thesis, I presented the value of his study in a new way. Finally, I adopted researches on unearthed literature today to illustrate the penetrating judgment and over-interpretation of his theory. In the conclusion part, I attempted to evaluate Shang’s Yi by Western hermeneutical theory.
