Translating is an important way to acquire information. It is impossible for a translator to have a further understanding of professional knowledge in every field. It is not realistic to restudy relative professional knowledge in this field when we translate this professional text. Therefore, reading and referencing relative parallel texts can help us solve many problems. This paper analyzes the importance of parallel texts and intertextuality by connecting parallel texts, intertextuality with translation practice. The first part describes the parallel texts and intertextuality, including the definition of parallel texts, intertextuality and intertextuality of parallel texts. The second part analyzes the parallel texts and translation, including application of parallel text and its importance. The third part mainly analyzes how to solve problems in translating words and sentences by using parallel texts. From these three parts, the parallel texts and intertextuality play a significant role on translating. The parallel texts and intertextuality can not only help translators find appropriate words and sentences in order to retain faithfulness and accuracy, but also make translated texts more vivid and retain the writing style of original texts.
