D.H. Lawrence is labeled as the most extraordinary and controversial English writer. Among many of his works. Lady Chatterley’s Lover is the most controversial one.Whether at home or abroad, some studies conducted on him and his Lady Chatterley’s Lover mainly lie in feminism, some feminist considered D. H. Lawrence was a masculinist, he only wrote textbook for women. Some else use Freudian theory of human psyche to analyze the heroine. There are also some studies focusing on male-female relationship, however, they mainly put emphasis on the balance between body and spirit to harmonize the two opposites, they did not pay much attention to the other aspects.In this paper, by referring to the D. H. Lawrence’s polarity thought, combined with the previous information about the author, his work and his theory, a comprehensive analysis of the main male-female relationships are carried forward. This thesis consists four parts. In the first part, the thesis introduces the author, the novel and the former scholars’researchers. In the second part, the thesis introduces the main patterns of the male-female relationships in the novel and points out the merits and demerits of them. In the third part, the thesis analyzes the main features of the ideal male-female relationship expressed in the novel. In the fourth part, the thesis indicates the aspects of realizing the ideal male-female relationship revealing in the novel. Consequently, the thesis obtains Lawrence’s ideal male-female relationship should be based on the following features: fighting is the motion to harmonize the opposites, democracy is the premier and recognition of differences between male-female is a necessary condition. What’s more, this paper also points out the possible aspects to realize the ideal relationship.
