The Biographical Sketch Of Xu Kun—a Chinese Writer Of Qing Dynasty

Taking Xu Kun as object of the research, the article reviews Xu Kun and his works entirely.At present we have not found anyone who researches this problem systematically and deeply in the circles.Based on the achievement of former scholars,The author overview each side of Xu Kun and his writings,try to reveal the whole works of Xu Kun and give a proper estimation of his achievement on writings.This dissertation consists of five parts.Chapter one,Research on Xu Kun’s life and family.This part generally Sums up Xu Kun’s birth,family,imperal examinations and his later life.Xu Kun’s own life experiences is personal factor of this dissertation.About the time of Birth and Death of Xu Kun,the author makes sufficient evidence to research.Chapter two,Research on Xu Kun’s friendship.This part just chooses Xu Kun’s good friends and sums up his friendship.This can be of Xu Kun’s social factor of this dissertation.In short,the former two chapers are the basement of in-depth studies.Chapter three,Research on Xu Kun’s works.according to the works before or after the official’s creation,the author analyzes and summarizes the works of Xu Kun.To the edition of works,the reason of works,details,the author is on the basis of previous studies,and adds a newly discovered works to Xu Kun of record,so that Xu Kun’s works could be a comprehensive show.Chapter four,The collection and publication of documents by Xu kun.In Xu Kun’s later years,he collects and publics some documents with Contemporaries.Such as Sima Wenzheng Gongji,Wu Wen Xian Sheng Lian Yang Ji, WuTingWenBian,and two legends of ZhangJin,named XinXiXiang and XinPiPa.This is based on the Xu Kun’s prefaces that the author has collected,and gives an objective evaluation on the contributions which he makes. Chapter five,Conclusion is rebuilt the biography of Xu Kun.This part is to reveal Xu Kun’s whole life and shows up the important position on the legend of history in Qing dynasty,besides,he makes the contributions to the collection and publication of documents.In short,a comparatively complete reproduction on Xu Kun’s life and family, literature activities, creation achievement as well as the collection and publication for literature,these are the prerequisite for us to do further study on his works in different periods. It is of literature documents’ value and referencing importance for understanding and composing development history of romance from QianLong to JiaQing Period of Qing Dynasty.
