A Research On Shanghai Silk Evolvement From The Design Management System Of Meiya Silk Mill During Republic Of China

The Republic of China passing is a rich and wonderful period of the20thcentury. No matter this period or comparing with the former period, Chinese politics,economy, culture and people’s life has the great revolution. The world famousChinese silk goes through the vicissitudes. This paper wants to describe Shanghai silkevolvement during Republic of China, through design management system ofShanghai silk industry before Meiya silk mill, development of Shanghai Meiya silkmill, design management system of Shanghai Meiya silk mill during the Republic ofChina and silk pattern in this period. The composition according as two skeletons: oneis development history about Shanghai Meiya silk mill, to revelate its fate; and theother is force of its design management system to modern silk industry. It gives twoconclusions as follows: Firstly, the ups and downs of an enterprise is closely related tothe fate of a society. Secondly, study of Meiya silk mill give a significance for silkhistory, economic history and social humanities in the modern design domain.
