| Diversity effect of inductive reasoning is a psychological effect. It refers to the premise categories of diversity can bring stronger intensity of inductive judgment within the same conclusion category. The thematic relations are external relation that appear in the same situation or event, which have a great impact on inductive judgment.while there is little literature about thematic relations whether or not to have impact on the diversity effect of inductive reasoning. This study focused on the influence of thematic relations on diversity effect of inductive reasoning and mechanism of eye-movement.There is no thematic relation in the first experiment. By controlling the diversity of materials, present the same material with text and picture,we can examine whether or not subjects show diversity effect when they make inductive judgment and what is the difference response on different property of materials. The experiment uses2(materials properties:Text,Picture)x2(materials categories:diverse,non-diverse)x2(proposition properties:the central,non-central)three-factor mixed design.The properties of materials as between-subjects factors, materials categories and proposition properties as within-subjects factors,and the subjects’reasoning results and eye-movement data as dependent variable.There are thematic relations in the second experiment. By controlling the diversity of materials, present the same material with text and picture, we can examine the diversity effect that demonstrated in the process of inductive judgment whether or not affected by thematic relations,and what is the difference response on different property of materials.The experiment uses2(materials properties:Text,Picture) X2(materials categories:diverse,non-diverse) X2(proposition properties：the central,non-central) three-factor mixed design. The materials properties as between-subjects factors, materials categories and proposition properties as within-subjects factors,and the subjects’reasoning results and eye-movement data as dependent variable.Through the research we draw the following conclusions:(1)When the materials have no thematic relations, subjects’ inductive judgment show diversity effect on reasoning results and eye-movement data.(2) When the materials have thematic relations, subjects’ inductive judgment have no diversity effect on reasoning results, but eye-movement data have diversity effect. That is to say the diversity effect was influenced by thematic relations.(3)From the study,subjects’reasoning results obviously show properties of centrality,but the eye-movement data doesn’t shown properties of centrality.That is to say subjects handle proposition properties with automatically.(4) subjects’ inductive judgment doesn’t impacted by materials properties, but the first pass time of different materials is obvious different. It proved that subjects’ early process is different in different materials, but in the final processing they need the same inductive process. |
