The Phonological Study Of Suantang Dialect In Qiaoli District

Suantang dialect is distributed in Qiaoli district which is on the border of Hunan and Guizhou, surrounded by Xiang Dialect and Southwest Official Language. It belongs to Suihui group,which is one of the Loushao group of Xiang Dialect, but also be affected by Gan Dialect in depth.Suantang dialect has ever been investigated and studied, but due to its remote location, its whole features were not recognized. The paper describes comprehensively and discusses in depth types of synchronic and diachronic changes about the phonological system of Suantang dialect, which helps us to discuss the classification of Suantang dialect and the division of Xiangxinan Chinese dialect. At the same time, Suantang dialect is the best material to study the dialect contact’s impact on dialect evolution. By using basic study methods, i.e. descriptive method and the theory of dialect contact, the paper studies the concrete expression of Suantang dialect contact in comparison of historical changes and present features, to explain the law of Suantang dialect evolution. Also, the study of Suantang dialect can enriched the dialect investigation of Hunan and Guizhou province. It can also provide some evidences from the linguistic respect for the study of Sanqiaoren nationality and Suantangmiao nationality.
