Multi-editions,such as the same play’s different editions which interpreted by different drama genre or performed by different schools of one drama genre,is a very common phenomenon in the diffusion of traditional Chinese opera plays.It constructs a edtion system of origional plays and revised ones,which with various appreciation value and interest.And it also presents the living history heritage of traditional Chinese opera’s editions.Because such heritage adhere to the actors’performences,editions possess distinct identification of drama genre and schools that derives from the plays.The author finds that the traditional Chinese music theory research not only fails to bear much fruits in the edition study of traditional Chinese opera plays,but also pays little attention to the unique value of the same plays’different editions and the related study about culture background and art’s ecological environment.This dissertation focuses on the several editions of "The orphan of the Zhao"which adapted by many traditional Chinese opera drama genre. Choosing the three typical editions of "The orphan of the Zhao",which involve the Beijing opera edition with Ma Lianliang as the starring actor, the Henan Opera edition with Li Huejian as the starring actor and Shaoxing opera with Zhao Zhigang as the starring actor, the dissertation analyse the originality of each edition.The author tries to explore the value and significance of the classical play’s derivative edition by seeing through the the same play’s multi-editions phenomenon. Although all the three editions are traditional Chinese opera which has the same art identity, using drama genre as the vehicle,they show the unique charm of different drama genre.。The paper concentrates on how the three editions shape the figure’s image.complete the play’s theme expression, and form the music’s unique value of finally by applying the particular music form and school arts.The main body of this paper is divided into three parts except the introduction and the conclusion.The first part(Chapter One),namely the space-time travel edition system of "The orphan of the Zhao".This part analyses the content and theme of "The orphan of the Zhao’"s original edition,which written by Ji Junxiang of Yuan Dynasty.It also regulates the edition system formed during the diffusion,that is the derivative edition at home and abroad. The second part(Chapter Two) analyses the reconsitution of the play,which influenced by the two-way thinking created by the times and drama genre’s speciality.The Third part(Chapter Three) stress how to make a "This one" art model with apparent identification of drama genre by analysing depthly the type’s common attributes and the drama genre’s characteristics of the three edition. It also studys how the music for voices in a Chinese opera depicts the figure and interperates the story by using the common systematic tunes of many varieties of Chinese operas and plate-type rhythm,etc.
