Typeface In City Traffic Guide System

Along with the development of social economy and the expanding of city, city traffic is becoming more and more complex. The increase of roads, population density, motor vehicle the popularization phenomenon led to the city traffic guidance and management of a higher demand, people travel to rely more and more on city traffic guide system. The old city traffic guide system design have been unable to keep up with the city traffic development, improving the city traffic guide system design has become the urgent problem.In city traffic guide system design, how to convey information clearly, fast and accurately is the first purpose. Typeface is the basic element in information conveying, and also is the core component of the city traffic guide system. Therefore, it is very necessary to pay close attention to the typeface in city traffic guide system.This paper introduced the development of typeface in both domestic and foreign city traffic guide system at first. Then, author discussed the origin of typeface in city traffic guide system. Besides, it introduced present situation and some excellent examples existed in the typeface of western city traffic guide system, elaborated the design steps of city traffic guide system in Japan. And then it summarized present situation and development of typeface of city traffic guide system in our country. Through these studies, based on the successful experience of foreign country and considered the peculiarity of our country, this paper came up with some important factors which influence the typeface in our country city traffic guide system, and made the detailed analysis and summary one by one.The improvement of our city traffic guide system typeface is one of the steps of improving our city traffic sign design, is the development of guide System and typeface level in the field of China’s graphic design, and also is the representation of progress of city development.
